To learn how to export data as a free user please refer to this FAQ. Premium users can use the export all function:
Premium users can download all the data, including the attached files, with the Export all function that exports the data as a .zip file. The button for exporting the data is located on the projects' dashboard on the top right.
You can select one or more projects, which can be exported from all three projects' tabs (ACTIVE, ARCHIVED and ALL) in the same way. You can switch between the Card and Table view.
In general, you can export the projects for which you have viewing permissions, regardless of your project role (e.g. Owner, User, Technician, or Viewer). This means you can export the projects that are visible to the entire Team or the private projects you are a member of (in other words, the projects that you are added to).
Furthermore, a user who has a Team permission to view the project can also export it (e.g. Guest, Normal user, or Administrator). If you are the Team Administrator, you have the permission to export all Team's projects.
First, select one or more projects by checking the boxes. In a Card view, the checkbox is located in the right upper corner of a project card. In the case of a Table view, you need to check the box on the left of one or more projects. Then click the Export projects button and a modal window will display.
Once you confirm your action by clicking the green Export button, your request will be processed and exported as a .zip file. Exporting process can last from 5 minutes up to several hours, depending on the file size. Please note, that any new data in the projects from this point will not be included in the exported file.
When it is ready, you will receive an e-mail with the download link and the link to your file will also appear in your SciNote notifications. Due to security reasons, the link will expire in 7 days. Please be advised that the number of exports is limited to 5 requests per day.
Files are exported in the tree-like structure. Everything uploaded to SciNote is downloaded. The main file of the export is the Report in HTML format, which can also be edited in Word document. To learn how to open Report in Word document, follow this tutorial. Inventories are exported in Excel file format. Attachments are downloaded in native format (same that they were uploaded in) and archived items are also exported.
Because protocols, in general, are much smaller they do not require a lot of time to be exported, that is why exporting is direct.
The file type .eln ensures that protocols can be shared (exported and imported) between SciNote users. This file can also be saved on computer/disk and used in SciNote when needed. However, the .eln file is not meant to be viewed outside of SciNote. Alternatively, you can create reports, where you are able to choose exact tasks and content from each project. The created report can then be printed directly from SciNote, downloaded as a PDF or saved to the Inventories as a PDF.
