SciNote is an open-source software because we encourage scientific collaboration on all levels and contribute to the future of science that is open and independent.
Open-source software code is available at GitHub and can be reviewed or improved by the scientific community. We might say that open-source software is independent. This means that you are not tied to us as a vendor or owner of the software. Even better, the whole scientific community is free to develop add-ons, improve the software and its weak points, and maintain it. In a way, this type of software is peer-reviewed.
