Yes. SciNote enables you to preview the uploaded images, PDF files and Microsoft Office files, such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
The images can be uploaded to the individual protocol step or to the results within a task (Results tab). To preview an image simply click on a certain image thumbnail in the attachments.
As for the protocols, when you click on protocol name in the Protocols repository a protocol preview window will appear. It will give you the information about the protocol (creation and last modified date, authors, keywords, protocol description, and protocol steps).
Microsoft Office Online supports viewing of many major Microsoft Office file types. However, MS Office Online supports only certain file formats for editing:
Word: .docx, .docm, .odt
Excel: .xlsx, .xlsm, .xlsb, .ods
Powerpoint: .pptx, ppsx, .odp
To either open or edit a Microsoft Office Online file you need to click on the file thumbnail, which will give you an option to open or edit the MO file online, depending on their format.
To learn more about MS Office Online integration with SciNote watch our video tutorial.
As for the PDF, text, and other non-Microsoft Office Online files, they can only be downloaded and then opened. However, you can convert the PDF file into Word document and then upload it to one of the protocol steps.
For Premium users: To take advantage of Scinote integration with Microsoft Office you must have an active Microsoft Office account that has online editing rights. Read more about it here.
