As a SciNote Premium user, you belong to one Organization that can have multiple Teams.
The Organization represents an entire workforce and is the first level of so-called user membership. Within the Organization there can be established different Teams that pose as different departments or groups of people who work on the same projects and share the same inventories (samples, reagents, lab equipment, etc.), protocols repository and reports.
In case you wish to remove someone from the Organization, meaning, you wish to lock their user account, you need to be the Organization Admin in order to be able to do so. This way you free up the user license for a newcomer. Locking an account is a reversible action - if you unlock the account the person will have all the same rights as before the account was locked.
To lock (deactivate) user account please follow these simple steps:
- Click Settings in the main menu on the left
- Open Members tab in the navigation bar
- Find the user you want to lock by using the Filter option on the right below the green button Invite members
- Click the cogwheel under the Actions column and select Lock account from the drop-down menu
If you wish to reassign the data that the user has created in a given team onto you, you need to remove a user from that team. If you choose to re-add the removed person to the team, the data will not be reassigned back onto them, meaning that this action is irreversible. Please see the screenshot of a pop-up when removing a user below:
If someone permanently left your team, you might want to first remove them from the team(s) they were in to reassign their data onto you (you need to have the role of Team Administrator to do this), and then lock their account to disable them access to SciNote (you need to have the role of Organization Administrator to do this).
